SEMA in Borno reunites 64 women, children after 9 months deradicalisation with families

The Borno State Emergency Management Agency
(SEMA) says it has reunited 64 women and children
rescued from Boko Haram after undergoing a nine-
month deradicalisation, counselling with their
families.
 The SEMA Chairman, Mr Satomi Ahmed, told the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri on
Friday that the effected women gave birth while in
the rehabilitation centres.
“The women were enrolled into the monthly Cash
Base Transfer programme of the International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to enabled them
engaged in skills for wealth creation and self-
reliance.
“Also, the women and children had underwent
various skills acquisition and empowerment
programme with a view to equip them with
relevant skills for them to continue to stand on
their own and fend for themselves.
“This skills, include cap making, knitting, pomad
making, pillow making and bead making, curry
making, detergent making, among other skills.
“Each of the beneficiaries was given N100,000 as
resettlement allowance to enabled them start up
their own businesses,” Satomi said.
