Youths apologise to Gbagyi ruler for clash over slots at Kaduna refinery

The Association of Gbagyi Youth for a Better Future
has apologized for dragging the Chief of Gbagyi
Traditional Council, Chief Danjuma Sheko'aga Barde Sa
Gbagyi I, to court over issue of community
representation at the Kaduna Refining and
Petrochemical Company (KRPC) Ltd, which is located
within their domain.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Association,
Yakubu Waziri tendered the apology on behalf of other
members of the Association in an interview yesterday.
It would be recalled that there was a clash between two
youth groups including the Gbagyi Youths for a Better
Future (GYBF) and the Gbagyi Youths Progressive
Union (GYPU) over the position of Community Liaison
Officer representing the entire community at KRPC. As
a result of the disagreement, the former dragged the Sa
Gbagyi; Secretary, Gbagyi Traditional Council; chairman
of GYPU, Amos Isah; and KRPC among others to court.
According to Waziri, the case has been settled out of
court. “After dragging the issue for a period of time, the
two groups came together and had an out-of-court
settlement and since then nobody has reached out to
the Sa Gbagyi to intimate him of the level at which the
decision was taken. So, as the chairman, Board of
Trustee of Gbagyi Youth for a Better Future, I have
shouldered the responsibility and I feel this is a new
page and a new year,”
“I know a lot of people might be aggrieved, I stand
today on behalf of the Association to beg all aggrieved
parties to sheath their sword and accept apologies from
the Gbagyi Youths for a Better Future. We regretted our
action and the embarrassment our actions might have
caused the Sa Gbagyi, other traditional rulers and the
entire Gbagyi community; we are very sorry,” he
pleaded.
He also apologised to the executives and members of
GYPU. “Let us forgive one another and together mend
our fences and move our community forward. There is
need for us to come together as a united bloc to move
the community forward,” he added.
