Sanusi suspends village head over alleged rape of girl, 14
Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, has
suspended Usman Musa Muhammad, the village
head of Goron-Maje in Dambatta LGA of the state
over alleged rape of a 14-year old girl.
Announcing the suspension yesterday, the
Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, said the
village head was suspended to ensure proper
investigation into the matter.
He added that the emirate council had set up a
committee to investigate the matter and report
back to the palace. He also said the committee
comprises representatives of the palace and
officials of the State Hisbah Board.
The Galadima warned other traditional title
holders in the state against anything capable of
tarnishing their integrity and the image of the
emirate.
“The Kano Emirate Council will not condone any
act of immorality by its representatives, hence,
will not spare any traditional ruler found wanting
in such acts,” he said.
“The village head slept with me on several
occasions. He threatened to kill me if I told
anyone about my relationship with him and that
is why I kept quiet,” the girl told Hisbah officials.
The Commander-General of the Hibah Board,
Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, said the board
would invite the village head for questioning.
